lca2011 - venue: QUT Kelvin Grove in 4 days

[D] [Digg] [SU] [R] [SU] [SU]

BRISBANE, Australia - linux.conf.au has moved to QUT Kelvin Grove, after the Brisbane floods of last week.

Have you registered for the best FOSS conference yet? You have just 4 days left before it starts.

After much intense work, the conference venue is now officially confirmed as being at the Queensland University of Technology - Kelvin Grove campus. Unfortunately due to the damage sustained by the recent floods in Brisbane, the original buildings located at QUT - Gardens Point campus will not be available for the week of the conference.

QUT - Kelvin Grove campus is located on the edge of the CBD approx. 4km from the original location. Obviously, this does impact on current travel plans to the venue for many people. There are a number of options, including fast dedicated busways, and we will provide details about these shortly. The good thing is that there are many buses that run directly from the CBD and arrive directly on the Kelvin Grove campus. In the meantime you can refer to a map of the QUT Kelvin Grove Campus

Urbanest have had power restored and will be able to provide services to all lca2011 people with bookings there.

We do ask you to be patient as we work through all the logistics - but the conference will go ahead and no miniconfs or conference streams will be cancelled.

The team encourages everyone to still come to Brisbane and support local business and the community - we need your support!
